Rating Consumer trunk battery solution. i have been reading this forum for a long time. it's time to give back. i have a 2004 sl500, owned it since february 2007. as many know, the consumer battery in the trunk has a problem of staying charged up after the car sits for a few days. i had this problem, and after much research, decided to buy a ctek 7002. You can charge them without any problems but the charger must be a fixed rate charger and at 10% of the capacity so in this case it should be 7amps they can take along time to charge even at this rate. they are charged when the battery voltage is back up to 12.5 volt. malcolm.
