How To Bleed The Cooling System In A Honda Civic Coolant bleeding using a funnel, i know all about the lisle 24610 spill free funnel it is very nice but i lost mine (don't ask). i'm using the flotool quick. 7) fill radiator until coolant constantly flows out of the bleed valve. 8) close bleed valve. 9) close spill free funnel and remove from radiator. 10) install radiator cap (make sure it is good and sealed!). 11) open and fill the coolant reservoir to the max line. The 98 doesnt have a bleed mechanism like the 5th gens do. fill up the radiator with coolant. start the car and let it warm up. make sure your heater is on full blast. this will pull the air bubbles out and through the system. once you feel heat coming out of the air vents, close the cap, top off the resivoire, and let the system build pressure. Start the car and rev the rpms slightly from 2 3k rpms until the engine is at normal operating temp. turn the a c on full blast to kick on the fans. watch the coolant in the radiator. you should see bubbles popping at the surface. also it is important to turn the heat on full because you want the bubbles out of the heater core as well.
